Montreal-via-Halifax band Wintersleep has come a long way since their beginnings over a decade ago, joining Canada’s alt-rock elite with a series of critically lauded albums and an ever-growing international fan base. Their third album, 2008s Welcome to the Night Sky, earned the band a Juno for New Group of the Year, and spawned the massive rock radio hit single “Weighty Ghost.” Wintersleep followed that effort with 2010s New Inheritors and most recent album Hello Hum, both of which feature a subtly complex sound that weaves guitar and keys in fits of sonic weirdness that shine with pop charm.

Shivering Songs also announced that Paper Beat Scissors will open this show. Relocated-Brit Tim Crabtree began the project following a move to Canada’s East Coast and soon caught the attention of his adoptive home. Instrumentally, the palettes shift from hypnotic loops through full brass arrangements and screaming lap steel to stripped-back acoustic guitar and layered vocals.
